NMP

Here are a few images of my development. I tried a number of ideas out until i got to my final set of labels. The majority of my development is in my sketchbooks, but here is a taster.

Here is a few images of my mock labels. I was trying them out onto the bottles. Ideally they would be screen printed directly onto the glass bottles, as I can’t do that I will screen on to acetate  and wrap around the bottles

Theses are images of my finished screen printed labels onto amble glass bottles. The lables would be printed directly onto the glass but as i can’t do that I have screen printed onto acetate.

Screen Printing

To my labels for my products I looked into screen printing. I was luckily enough to get a slot in the print room and fred was very help full and showed me the ropes. I only had one screen so I managed to get an second day in with 2 screens.  I found it tricky a first but after a while i managed to get the hang of it. Freds prints were 10 times better than my attempts but it was good just trying it out and learning how to do it.

First I printed off all my designs onto inkjet acetate. This stuff was quite expensive  so need to make sure everything was perfect, including the ink settings on the printer.

Making the screens..

My days spent in the studio was fun and I managed to get a number of good prints for my packaging.. The one thing that was annoying was the acetate has a coating on the front that helped the ink stay when printing, but this was prone to picking up finger marks and dirt, this was annoying as it made the labels look dirty and blurred on the amber glass.

Bottles

Theses are the glass bottles I will be using for my packaging.

Whilst creating my packaging I tried a number of techniques out. I was planning  on using old plastic containers and i couldn’t find any new unused ones anywhere. I spay painted a few bottles and containers to see what they would look like. Some turned out good but others messed up. From doing these experiments I decided  against using current packaging so looked into other containers and bottles online.

NMP UPADTE - logo

This is the logo for my brand, I’ve kept it simple and clean by using a serif font I makes the brand feel more sophisticated and appeal more to a high end customer/product.

The logo itself I have kept simple with the name of the brand and the fox emblem jumping over the text as if it was running away from its hunters.

The sub brands

This is the logo to the Owl range of products, I wanted to keep it simple and clean font that fit in with my whole branding. This range of products is anti-aging for the face. I chose an owl to represent this sub brand as we think of the wise old owl. Age is  something we try to stop or slow down, So by being wise and using these products youcan slow down the signs of aging.

This is the logo for the boar range of products, the boar logo is set to the right and is keeping with the same selected fonts for my whole brand. The boar range is a selection of mens shaving and facial hair products, boar was chosen as the animal is know for having long bristle hair on it face, much like a beard on a human.

This is the logo for the bear range of products, this is central to the page and keeps with the branding fonts. Bear range is a group of bath and shower products, bear was used as to use these products you have to be bare skinned, so playing on the word bare I created these products.

Logo for the hare sub brand, this also keep with the fonts of the brand and is underlined to separate it from the rest. Hare range is a group of hair products, Hare was just for these as the name is the same as the range of products put spelt differently.

NMP UPADTE

For my NMP I have decided to create a new brand of mens grooming products, I chose to do this as i found my strengths are in packaging design and branding. For my brand I began looking at odd names that didn’t really work. I then Settled on an idea of the brand being from savile row in London. This is a street of world famous tailors and barbers who’s clientle are that of rich upper class men who have a large disposable income to spend on clothes and products. From this I i came up with more ideas for the names and then jokingly I played that old game of whats would you porn star name be. You take the name of your first pet and the name of the first road you lived on. Mine being percy and the road was hunters close. I came up with a few ideas and began to like it. I then went to uni and spoke to tash and we came up with the idea that percy is the fox that is hunted buy man.. this plays on how my chosen market to design for are know for fox hunting. This brand is a bristish brand so fox hunting is world renowned for being a sport playing in England by the upper class.

I then took the name and came up with percy being the overall head guy of the brand and the hunted part of the name being a collection of animals that are huntedpast and present in the UK. These hunted animals with represent each sub category of the of the brand.

- Bear for shampoo, bubble bath etc… Bear was chosen as it was hunted way back in time in scotland and to use these products you have to be bare (naked) in the shower/bath. So i played on the word bear/bare too.

- Hare for hair products.

- Owl for ageing and face creams

- Boar for shaving products
